Rain barrel

Collect rainwater from the roof

It can be a good idea to set up a rain barrel that collect, store and divert rainwater from the roof. However, if it stands close to the house, you have to be careful that it does not spill over as this can damage the house.

Most rain barrels are made of plastic and can be quite unsightly. But it is also possible to use an old wine barrel or another wooden construction, which blends more aesthetically in.

If you collect rainwater from the roof you can reduce the consumption of public water in the summertime, when you have to water the garden. You can save money by reusing the rainwater and you do not lead so much water into the sewer system that gets overloaded in some areas.

It is easy to fill the watering can from the rain barrel. You can water all the plants on the patio without having to roll out the garden hose.

You can collect all the water that falls on your house by placing rain barrels at each rainwater leader or downspout. If you plan to invest in a greenhouse it is recommended to choose one with downspouts so you can use rainwater for the greenhouse plants that need watering daily.
