Planting an apple tree

Apple tree in container

An apple tree can be temporarily located in a large container

Ida got a new apple tree for her birthday. The landscape in the front yard was not ready yet, so we had to plant it temporarily in a large container or garden tub.

Six months later we could plant it in its permanent position, and it seems to have accepted the temporary location. A tree in a container has to be watered more carefully. It must not lack water and it must not get too much water. The younger the tree the more likely the relocation will be successful.

Growing fruit trees in containers

Some people plant fruit trees in large garden tubs permanently. Planting in a container can reduce garden pests and disease and improve the quality of the fruit. Furthermore, growing apples trees in containers is often a requirement in a small garden
